In Barcelona, 70% of population declare themselves to be atheist, 25% identify themselves as catholics and around 5% identify with some sort of non-catholic Christian belief.
There are about 280 "protestant" churches, of which probably around 5% would be conservative.
Catalan is the official language of Catalunya, as is Spanish, which is the official language of Spain. Both languages coexist in Barcelona, where most people understand, write, read and speak them normally.

Barcelona’s cosmopolitan nature is, undoubtedly, one of its most outstanding features, and it receives continuous recognition as a global city of great international projection, not only because of its diverse population but also because of its cultural, financial, commercial and touristic importance.
